Botanical Forms

Branch Pendant

Ana TomAna Tom, a graduate gemologist and jewelry designer from the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad California, founded "AnaYansi" in 2004 to design limited production and one-of-kind botanical jewelry.

AnaYansi's botanical jewelry is very much influenced by nature, incorporating soft curved lines with a modest touch of gentle textures. Combining Keshi pearls and colored gemstones with fine silver and high karat gold gives each piece a feeling of organic forms.

Ana is involved from the beginning of the initial sketch to the final completion of the jewelry. Each piece is handmade in her studio and marked to ensure the purity and quality of the precious metal used as well of the originality of the designs.

Techniques

Ana's StudioDesigning botanical jewelry allows Ana to create original and distinctive designs by using various mediums and techniques outside of those used in traditional jewelry making.

AnaYansi jewelry line are made of fine silver (99.9% pure silver), high karat gold, keshi pearls and colored gemstones.

One of the methods Ana used is Keum-boo, an ancient Korean technique of bonding 24kt gold and fine silver.

This combination of pure gold and pure silver can be done by the diffusion of two metals. When the tin sheet of 24kt gold is apply to fine silver with heat and pressure, the atoms of the metals interchange with each other producing a permanent diffusion bond.
